Hello all! I’m Seth Williamson, and I will be portraying the character of Starkey the pirate in CharACTers’ production of Peter Pan the Musical. My first encounter with this certain musical came when I was 5 or 6 years old. I was staying at my grandparents’ house and really wanted to watch Peter Pan, so my grandfather took me up the road to a local video store. Come to find out, the only Peter Pan video that the video store had was the Mary Martin musical version. Well, we watched it and my granddad hated it. Me, on the other hand, I loved it. I watched it over and over until we had to take it back. My granddad never understood why I liked it so much, and neither did I at the time. Could it have been a very early sign? Maybe so.
My theatre story is very short, compared to some, but it seems like I have been doing it for years. I have loved the thought of acting my whole life, but never had a chance to act upon the thought until after I graduated high school. This show will be my ninth show, and eighth with CharACTers. I owe all of my love for theatre to Cody Carlton and what he has created at CharACTers. I love every aspect of theatre with ALL of my heart. Whether it be blocking, music, choreography, or building the set. It is a crazy process, and is very time consuming, but I wouldn’t have it any other way! Getting to spend almost every day with great friends and people I love, what more could a person ask for?
One portion of theatre that has grabbed me since I started is the set construction. I started helping out with building the set during the production of Ragtime. Ever since then I can’t seem to stop! I learn something new every single day that we work, and it’s simply amazing to me. However, during this show, I am completely in charge of building the huge, enormous, very elaborate set (HELP ME!)! It is a challenge that I welcome with open arms, because I know that it’s going to help me expand my theatre knowledge and experience.
Everything is going great so far! We have finally finished blocking and the staging is amazing. Everyone is starting to develop their CharACTers, which is amazing to watch. Lastly, the set is starting to come together very well, which is the part I am most concerned about! As I leave you, I just want to thank you for taking the time to read this. To all who have helped me along the way and befriended me, thank you all so much. You all mean more to me than you will ever know. To those who I don’t know, and are interested in getting involved, come and audition or talk to someone about getting involved. It could change your life. It did mine!
